Luss, Loch Lomond

This day trip takes you into the heart of the stunning west of Scotland where your guide will enthral you with tales of the wests historical past. Departing from Edinburgh the first stop will be the pretty conservation village of Luss, in clan Colqhoun territory.

 

Deep into the Highlands

We then head deep into the Highlands, passing through enchanting forestry via Loch Awe, the longest loch in Scotland and jewel in Argyll’s crown. As we continue through the stunning highlands, you are graced with its rich history as we catch a glimpse of Kilchurn Castle, best known historically as a stronghold of the Campbell Clan. Perched on the shore of Loch Awe, this castle is possibly one of Scotland’s most scenic fortifications. Leaving this piece of history behind, we continue through the Pass of Brander, the location where Robert the Bruce had a notable victory. From here, we’ll head to our next stop of Oban, the star of this tour and lunch stop for the day.

 

Oban

Lunch at the sea-side town of Oban…

Oban, ‘Little Bay’ in the Scottish Gaelic language, is a seaside town as well as being the main ferry terminal to the Scottish islands with views over to the Isles of Mull and Kerrera.

 

Inverary Castle

On the return journey, visit the seat of the Campbell Clan at Inveraray, You’ll have the opportunity to visit Inveraray Castle, home of the chief of clan Campbell.

 

Rest and Be Thankful

Travel over, Rest and Be Thankful with all its stunning views.

This stunning pass follows some of the old military roads which were constructed from 1753. At the viewpoint, travellers would stop to rest and be thankful that they had reached the top of their steep climb.
